The I-70 mountain corridor
A large share of private aviation into Denver is heading for the ski resorts, and the drive west on I-70 is its own discipline. The corridor climbs through the Eisenhower Tunnel at over 11,000 feet, it closes for avalanche control, and on winter Sunday afternoons the eastbound return traffic is legendary — a two-hour drive routinely becomes four.

Centennial and Rocky Mountain Metro
Centennial Airport in the south metro is among the busiest general aviation fields in the country and is far better placed for the Tech Center and the southern suburbs. Rocky Mountain Metropolitan, northwest of the city, is the natural field for Boulder. Either removes Peña Boulevard from the journey entirely.
