Book a Toronto Pearson airport transfer with an infant, toddler or booster seat already fitted. Request the seat when you reserve online or in the Onroutz app.

Getting a young child to Toronto Pearson is the one airport journey that rideshare apps handle badly. You cannot reliably summon a car with a correctly fitted infant seat, you cannot check what will turn up, and standing on a curb at 5am with a toddler and a car seat you now have to carry through the terminal is nobody’s idea of a good start.

Onroutz fits child seats on request for airport transfers across the Greater Toronto Area. You specify the seat type when you reserve, and the vehicle arrives with it already installed.

What Ontario law actually requires

Ontario sets child restraint requirements by weight and height rather than age alone. In broad terms, infants under 9 kg (20 lb) travel in a rear-facing seat; toddlers between 9 and 18 kg (20–40 lb) use a forward-facing seat with a tether; and children between 18 and 36 kg (40–80 lb) use a booster until they reach 145 cm (4 ft 9 in) or turn eight. The current rules are published by the province at ontario.ca.

There is an important wrinkle: Ontario grants taxis a limited exemption from some of these requirements. That exemption is about enforcement, not about physics. A seat belt designed for an adult does not restrain a small child correctly in a collision, whichever vehicle they are sitting in. Most parents who look into it decide they would rather book a car that simply has the right seat fitted.

Seats we can fit

  • Rear-facing infant seat — for newborns and babies under roughly 9 kg.
  • Forward-facing toddler seat — harnessed, with a top tether, for children roughly 9–18 kg.
  • Booster seat — for children roughly 18–36 kg and under 145 cm.
  • More than one seat — tell us the ages and we will assign a vehicle with the room to take them safely.

If you would rather use your own seat, that is completely fine and often preferable for a long trip — your chauffeur will help fit it and secure it properly. Either way, say so when you book rather than on the day.

Reserve the seat when you reserve the car

Child seats are requested at the point of booking, not arranged at the curb. Add a note with the number of children and their approximate ages or weights, and the vehicle is prepared before it leaves for you. This is the single thing that makes the difference between a smooth airport run and an argument in a departures lane.

Book in seconds from the Onroutz app

Reserve online in a few taps, then track your chauffeur in real time on the day. The app keeps every booking, receipt and journey in one place, so a repeat airport run takes seconds rather than a phone call.

  • Quick booking and real-time chauffeur tracking
  • Secure in-app payment
  • Ride management and full journey history
  • 24/7 customer support from inside the app

Practical notes for an airport run with young children

Give yourself more buffer than you think

Pearson recommends arriving three hours before an international departure and two before a domestic one. With small children, take the upper end. Security queues move slowly when you are collapsing a stroller and unpacking a bag of liquids at the same time.

Strollers travel free, but plan the handover

Most airlines let you gate-check a stroller at no charge. Tell us if you are bringing one so the vehicle has boot space for it alongside your luggage rather than instead of it.

Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are not interchangeable

They are separate buildings connected by the LINK train. Check your terminal before you travel — it is on your boarding pass and on the Toronto Pearson website — and give it to us when you book. Being dropped at the wrong terminal with children in tow costs twenty minutes you will not enjoy.

Meet-and-greet is worth it on the way home

On arrival, a chauffeur waiting inside with a name board means you are not navigating an unfamiliar curbside with tired children and a luggage trolley. For a late-night landing with a baby, it is the difference between an ordeal and a car ride.

Where we collect from

Frequently asked questions

Do you provide child car seats for airport transfers?

Yes. Rear-facing infant, forward-facing toddler and booster seats are all available on request. Ask for them when you make the reservation so the vehicle arrives with the seat already fitted.

Is there a charge for a child seat?

Seat availability and any applicable charge are confirmed with your booking quote. Request the seat when you reserve and it will be itemised in your confirmation.

Can I use my own car seat instead?

Absolutely, and many parents prefer to. Your chauffeur will help install and secure it. Let us know in advance so we allocate a vehicle with a suitable anchor point.

Are taxis in Ontario exempt from child seat rules?

Ontario grants taxis a limited exemption from certain child restraint requirements. The exemption does not make an adult seat belt safe for a small child, which is why a pre-booked vehicle with a properly fitted seat is the safer option.

How many children can you carry?

It depends on the seat types needed. Tell us the ages and weights and we will assign a sedan, SUV or larger vehicle with enough correctly anchored positions.

Can I book a family transfer from my phone?

Yes. The Onroutz app for iPhone and Android takes the booking, lets you add notes for seat requirements, and tracks your chauffeur in real time on the day.
